There continues to be debate and criticism of the implementation of VAR in LaLiga Santander, yet Atletico Madrid's Diego Godin has waged a strong defence of the technology.
This season represents the first campaign that it has been introduced in Spain's top flight, following a successful outing at the World Cup in Russia.
It was in that tournament that Godin got a first-hand look at the system and he is convinced that it will ultimately be a success in Spain.
"I wasn't going to say anything about it, but in the World Cup I had an experience [with VAR] that was positive and good," he told reporters ahead of his side's Champions League clash with Club Brugge.
"The referees got involved a lot more and stopped to observe the images.
"They made the decision according to what they witnessed on the television and I'm behind VAR because I think it will be good for ensuring justice is delivered.
"Personally, I'm pretty clear on it.
"It gives me peace of mind because you know all of the plays will be observed and there will be more justice.
"Of course, there will still be plays that are open to interpretation from the official which keeps the essence of the game and that is where we will still depend on the referee."
He also discussed the Wednesday night clash with the side from Belgium.
"We started very well in Monaco and now we play in front of our fans, so we are motivated and eager to keep up this path," he said.
"We are aware of the importance of victory."
The match kicks off at 21:00 CEST on Wednesday evening.

The antisocial will say that the Atleti does not stop crying but, the journalists are the ones who do not stop asking about the VAR and to put headlines in this place.

The smartest thing I've heard in a long time, I totally agree everything for the benefit of this sport.
