Griezmann: I knew that with the confidence of Simeone and we would do well

Antoine Griezmann was chosen by Atletico Madrid's fans as their team's top performer in November, as he received the 'Jugador Cinco Estrellas' award on Thursday.

After being handed the accolade, the Frenchman confessed that he was confident that his teammates and head coach Diego Simeone would help him adapt to life at Los Rojiblancos on his return to the club after spending two years at Barcelona.

"I am very happy, the support of the fans is always needed and you always try to give your best in the games and also off [the pitch], when we meet people," said Griezmann.

"It is a joy and I hope more [individual accolades] will come.

"I have needed some time to get better. It is a lot of change in tactics, rhythm, other things that the coach asks for.

"I knew that, with the confidence of the coach, the teammates, the club and the fans, I would do well. I am feeling very good, enjoying it and this will continue to get better."

Griezmann, who scored two goals and produced one assist in November, has reassured Atletico's fans that the team will do what it takes to come out victorious from the rest of their games until the new calendar year.

"There are very important, beautiful games coming," added Griezmann.

"We will play and live them with our fans. We will do everything possible to do well and give our people and ourselves a very beautiful Christmas.

"We have had a very good week to face what comes to us. It will be important to take the three points against Mallorca. It will be difficult, but the group is focused on winning."
