The German midfielder heaped praise on the City boss, while revealing that he is ready to remove the mask he has been wearing this season
Ilkay Gundogan dubbed Pep Guardiola "the best manager in the world" and said his Manchester City team-mates should feel privileged to play for the Catalan coach.
Gundogan has enjoyed a strong start to the season and suggested Guardiola's ability to engage with players on their level is key to his success.
The 27-year-old thinks the manager's pedigree as a player at Barcelona, where he made 472 appearances, influences how he is perceived by his squad.
"It's a mix of the fact that he played at a very high level on the biggest stage with Barcelona and the fact that he's just a great manager and can change his point of view from a player's point of view to a manager's point of view, which is sometimes a little bit different," said Gundogan.
"This mix makes him, at the moment, the best manager in the world in my opinion and I think a lot of players would love to play for him as well. Everyone who plays for Man City should feel privileged.
"He is able to teach everyone and bring you to the next level. Even when he doesn't say anything, it's just his personality. When you see him, you want to try your best to make him happy.
"If you make him happy, you are often happy."
Gundogan went on to reveal he is almost ready to remove the protective face mask he has been wearing this season due to an operation on his nose.
"I wear it as a protection for my nose," he said. "I think it's obvious that I had a nose surgery straight after the World Cup.
"I had problems breathing over the last year, so my nose was obviously broken before.
"At the beginning I struggled a little bit. I'm getting used to it more and more, and my breathing is much better.
"Maybe I'm going to wear it for a few more days just for protection and then maybe I can leave it and just play like I did before."
After the international break City are set to continue their defence of the Premier League title against newly promoted Fulham, after picking up 10 points out of a possible 12 at the start of the new campaign.

gundogan needs to loose weight. he is so slow in moving the ball..he cant replace debroyne. we miss debroyne.
It's more than just his speed but his thinking as well, he has lots of chances to score easy goals but he always want to add a little spice, I must say I am never comfortable with him playing, he is our weakest link. So soft any little contact he is on the ground and red barely gives the foul

I love Guadiola but he has to change his attitude towards African black players., up city. And I want to use this opportunity to wish quick recovery to De Brune our goal machine....
Pep preferred Fernandinho over Toure thus the fact n he has nothing against Africans thus he brought Mahrez

Pep seems to be our messier at the blue side of Manchester....Just that he needs to let go off his bad behavior on black players.. But his the best manager in the world.

FPL returns are unlikely though unless you are going for a consistent 2/3 points

Good budget option I think though I think at some point we will all want either Sterling or D Silva or KDB along with Mendy and Aguero

Bernardo created more chances after d. Silva which is obvious. So i guess he wont be dropped until Mahrez gets going. So for me it would be raz, dsillva, bsilva, gundo and dinho in the midfield with two wing backs (mendy and walker). Pep will be playing his customary 3 men defence with stones, vince and ota(or laporte) at the back and sergio upfront. In few occasions if he feels that we need more attacking prowess (getting in jesus), at that moment probably the 2 susceptible targets would be bsilva and gundo. But then you have to realise that dsilva cannot play the whole 90min. and must be forced into a substitution. So that nails bsilva in the midfield.

if it ends in a question mark, it's not certain. You can take someone's word for it, but it probably isn't going to be Pep's.

I'd personally go for Neves or Kante. Neves has already gotten points and Kante is playing a box to box role under Sarri. They are both cheaper and nailed 100%

Bilva got replaced early yesterday, that to me signals the end of him being nailed as people have pointed out the trend of people being dropped the game after they get replaced early. Also seen it pointed out it’ll probably be a 4-3-3 against Newcastle so no Aguero and Jesus together. The real question to me is whether it’s now Sane time or will Mahrez be recalled? Gundogan-Fernandinho-Dilva Mahrez/Sane-Aguero-Sterling

I hope we're not that stupid. He's injury prone and hasn't had regular gametime with club or national team in a while. He doesn't know the language, he doesn't know the league, and I'm not sure what he'd offer that's significantly above what we already have. At this stage I'd be fine turning Joao Mario around if he wants to redeem himself. Yeah I know what he said, but things can change. We wanted him to be a 10 but he's just not - put I'm in the midfield or on the wing and I think he'll get more comfortable. Bring in Duncan or some strong midfielder that can win tackles and headers when we need to close out matches and call this mercato good.

Well it must be true, if Gundogan says so 🤣, he forgets his comments, apart from the photo, that the Turkish president is his only true president ! If the Germans pick him, no wonder the Germans are pissed off at both of them, should be kicked out of the country, never mind the German team. Mind you we have a similar problem with the so called British Citizens in this country, a passport of convenience to many millions 😡
