Harry Kane snubs Cristiano Ronaldo and Rooney when naming his favourite striker

Harry Kane snubbed both Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney as he named a Real Madrid legend his favourite striker of all-time.

The Bayern Munich and England star has endured a mixed season in Germany since moving to the Bavarian team from Tottenham last summer.

An outrageous personal best season returned 44 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, but Bayern's failure to win any silverware continued Kane's wait for a first career trophy.

The 30-year-old is hoping to change that narrative when he leads England out at the upcoming European Championship that gets underway in Germany next month and has revealed what other striker he admired most.

Kane has played against modern day greats in Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but snubbed both as he named a former Real Madrid star as his personal best-ever goalscorer.

A game of 'winner stays on' whereby Kane was given the option between two legendary strikers and then asked to pick who was better out of his original choice and a new competitor saw the England star pick Brazilian Ronaldo over Cristiano Ronaldo in a shock first answer.

He then continued to favour the iconic World Cup and Champions League winner by keeping him as his top choice for every consecutive round.

Kane was further presented with choices of Chelsea star Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto'o, Luis Suarez, Sergio Aguero, Ruud van Nistelrooy and even himself to name a few, but stuck with Ronaldo.

Explaining his decision, Kane told GOAL: 'If we are going with strikers I am going to have to say R9.'

The Brazil star finished his career with a hugely impressive 298 club goals in 454 appearances and also helped lead the south American nation to two World Cup titles in 1994 and 2002.

Ronaldo was also crowned the Ballon d'Or winner on two separate occasions and is widely regarded as one of football's greatest goalscorers.

Multiple sensational World Cup appearances also saw Ronaldo become the first player to score a total of 15 goals at three of the tournaments.

He starred for a host of top European teams during his well-travelled career but enjoyed his best years as Madrid's number nine between 2002 and 2007.

After winning the Champions League with Inter Milan, Ronaldo secured a move to the Santiago Bernabeu where he went on to score 103 goals in 177 appearances.

However, difficult injuries hampered Ronaldo throughout his career and he eventually retired in 2011 at the age of 34 after admitting he couldn't cope physically with the demands anymore.
