Alexi Lalas former USMNT international said that no one should compare both players because Christian Pulisic’s career as a footballer has just started.
Since Christian Pulisic made his debut in March 2016 with the United States Men’s National Soccer Team (USMNT), many have been comparing him with U.S. international legend Landon Donovan. Many people said that the Chelsea winger will lead this generation to the next World Cup and achieve many important things with the USMNT like Landon Donovan did in his time.
According to former U.S. international player Alexis Lalas no one should be making these comparisons because Pulisic’s career just started and it’s too soon to talk about that. “No one should be asking this because Pulisic hasn’t even played a World Cup. He hasn’t achieved anything yet and so far injuries have taken the best of him.”
Christian Pulisic and the rest of the USMNT failed to qualify to the last World Cup in Russia 2018, while Landon Donovan played in 4 Gold Cups, 1 Confederations Cup and 4 World Cups with the United States.
Christian Pulisic’s injuries
At age 17 the American winger was promoted to Borussia Dortmund’s first team and since then showed the potential he has as a footballer. Pulisic played 3 seasons for Dortmund scoring 10 goals in 81 games in all competitions. This summer he signed for Chelsea but the injuries have kept them off the pitch since January and has failed to make an impact in the team so far.

Howard played for united. Oguchi Onyewu played for Milan. What do you mean by he's the first USMNT player to play for a big club.
Were these players integral in their teams? nope neither was a starter. I'm talking about cemented starters not bench options. It's like saying Vasquez won UCL and so did Ronaldo, dont mean Vasquez is as good as Ronaldo.

I don't know why this English journalist keep saying Pulisic is a flop and keep hyping Mount, Barkley and CHO when he has more goals than them

Pulisic didn’t fail us at Chelsea, he’s been exceptional until injury snatched him! Don’t say that about him, he didn’t fail. You may not compare him as he just started but he hasn’t failed at Chelsea.

I dont really count Miazaga as we didnt really sign him onto the first team and hes still part of the loan army. Like I'm talking in terms of actual signings such as Dempsey at Fulham for example.
Oh alright. Yeah maybe you could have phrased it better. I get your point now.

Pulisic in perspective can become twice the player Donovan was. Pulisic is the first US player to actually play for a big club if memory serves me right as neither of Dempsey, Donovan or Howard played for a club bigger than Chelsea and they are the 3 top players from USA football in general. Pulisic already been at 2 big clubs and is destined for greatness once he sorts out his whole injury issue.

Howard used to play For Man United, I remember
Did he? as a 2nd choice probably then cos Peter Schmeichal, Van Der Sar and De Gea have been the starting keepers for the past like 20 or so years I'm counting guys who actually started and were key members. I must have phrased my comment wrong. If we went about it that way we could also say Danovan played for like Bayern but I'm not counting 2nd choice or loans or youth academies etc. Pulisic walked into Chelsea and Dortmund and a starter none of those lot managed the same, especially not at 20.

Miazga was signed by Chelsea some seasons ago and played for us. So I don't think you can say that Pulisic is the first USA player to play for a big club and like Gunners4ever said, Howard played for Man Utd. However, Pulisic is brilliant in the sense that he's playing at top level at such a young age. He has the talent to become the finest US player in the Men's game.

But 10 goals in 81 games is not good for an attacking player no wonder sancho benched him .

Forget comparison if Pulisic scores more goals than Donovan then he's already better than him, playing more games in the world cup does not matter more than scoring or winning the champions league.
