Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick sent a strong message to his team's ultras from the press room after their win against Hoffenheim was marred by banners against opposition club owner Dietmar Hopp.
The game was temporarily halted in the second half as insults continued from the stands.
"I've known Dietmar Hopp for 20 years, I'm sorry for what has happened here," he said.
"For one thing, he has done a lot for this region, but also because each one of these idiots who have held up banners has at least one person in their family who has been helped by Dieter Hopp.
"Through the fight against cancer or generally for things he has done in medicine, they should think about what they are doing, it's something which isn't possible.
"We have to stay together as we did at the end, both teams."
This was also backed by Bayern Munich's president Karl-Heinz Rummenige.
"I'm ashamed of this behaviour, it's the horrible side of FC Bayern and there's no excuse, we have filmed everything and we will proceed against them with all of our resources," he told Sky.
After 67 minutes a poster was unveiled which said that "everything carries on, the federation break their word and Dietmar Hopp is still a son of a bitch".
The game was stopped for five minutes and the players only passed the ball around when play restarted, an idea which Rummenigge said belonged to the players.
