Ernesto Valverde was in charge at Athletic Club when Inaki Williams was handed his senior debut in a match against Cordoba and the forward is now celebrating five years in the first team.

There was a lot of hype surrounding the Spanish forward, who has emerged as one of the club's absolute key players ever since December 6, 2014.

It wasn't a sparkling debut as the Basque club slipped to a 1-0 defeat and Williams was substituted before the end, but it marked the start of an excellent journey.

He has made a total of 219 appearances, scoring 52 goals.

There have been a number of clubs interesting in signing him, although he has since signed a contract extension until 2028 with a buyout clause that is widely seen as prohibitive.

After beginning his career on the wing, Williams has developed into a much more central player, often used as a striker, and at just 25 years old he can expect a long career at San Mames.
