Jadon Sancho completes deadline day loan move to Chelsea from Man Utd

Jadon Sancho has officially completed his deadline day loan move from Manchester United to Chelsea with the Blues also having the obligation to buy the winger next summer.

The England international had been tipped for an exit from Old Trafford for much of the summer after falling out of favour under Erik ten Hag last season and being sent on loan to Dortmund - three years after arriving at the club for £73million with big expectations.

Sancho's stock rose again after performing admirably with the Bundesliga side and now Chelsea have opted to bring him to Stamford Bridge, with the club reportedly having an obligation to purchase the winger for between £20million - £25m.

The 24-year-old also had interest from Juventus in this window but the player made it clear his preference was to link up with Enzo Maresca in west London. Earlier in the day United boss Ten Hag had given the impression that Sancho could stay put during a pre-match press conference.

“As far as I know, I expect him to stay, yeah," the Dutchman said. "We are happy with him. We need a good squad. We have to play many games until January. After the break we play every third day so we need options."

Sancho made his peace with Ten Hag this summer following his switch to Dortmund, where he was sent after being banished to the reserves after a disagreement with the Dutchman over his trainiing performances.

The winger effectively accused Ten Hag of lying that he was being dropped from the squad because of his poor displays in training, telling his fans "don't believe everything you read", with the player forced to train with the academy players and banned from senior facilities and the canteen.

He was later loaned to two months later, where he went on to impress throughout 21 appearances, scoring three times and registering two assists. Sancho was even deployed in the Champions League final by Edin Terzic, which saw Real Madrid overcome the Bundesliga giants 2-0.

The move comes at a time when Chelsea are also attempting to offload another winger in Raheem Sterling, who has interest from Arsenal. The Gunners have been aiming to secure a last-minute deal to bring the out-of-favour star to the Emirates.
