Jadon Sancho gave Manchester United a taste of what they are missing after producing a brilliant Champions League performance.
Sancho was sensational as he helped Borussia Dortmund produce another upset as they took a big step towards the final at Wembley on June 1. And his dazzling display must surely make the United hierarchy question why they could not get the best out of the £73m England international during his three years at Old Trafford.
This was Sancho back to his impish best, dribbling and jinking down the wing as the industrial city of Dortmund upset the wealthy Parisians and made it another frustrating night for Kylian Mbappe. This time the supposed best striker in the world was outdone by a journeyman centre forward in Niclas Fullkrug as the 6ft 2in German international got the winner amid a yellow wall of noise in the raucous Signal Iduna Park.
It was obvious who wanted it more. Dortmund’s battlers overcame Paris Saint Germain’s millionaire superstars with a performance full of defiance, grit and big slices of luck. Mbappe is set to join Real Madrid this summer and if he goes without fulfilling his dream of winning the Champions League then he will look back upon nights like these with great regret.
PSG superstar Mbappe hit the post and the French giants passed up other gilt-edged chances as Sancho & Co defied the odds again as Dortmund have become the dark horses in this season’s Champions League. Yes, they are in the easiest half of the draw but they had to draw on every last bit of energy to get the job done as they were roared on by a deafening noise.
If you thought the Allianz Arena was loud on Tuesday night for Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, this lot turned up the volume again to get their players over the line. It was a special night and a big one for Sancho because this is a player who has found himself unwanted, cast aside at Old Trafford after a fall-out with Erik ten Hag and yet he embarrassed United with this display.
Sancho, along with left winger Karim Adeyemi, worked so hard and the England star produced chance after chance but his Dortmund team-mates passed them up. But Fullkrug did take his and he has become such a talking point in German football. He was playing in the second division two years ago, only got called up for Germany when he was 29 and much-travelled does not do his collection of clubs justice.
However, Fullkrug showed Mbappe how it should be done with the all-important 36th minute goal. It was route one from Dortmund. Nico Schlotterbeck’s long ball over the top reached Fullkrug who brought it down with a lovely piece of control, burst into the box and fired past PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Marcel Sabitzer, who was on loan at Manchester United this time last year, nearly made it 2-0 before half time but Donnarumma redeemed himself with a super save. PSG came out fired up for the second half. Mbappe’s shot crashed against one post and Achraf Hakimi’s effort from the rebound hit the other upright. It was an incredible let-off. Fabian Ruiz then missed a sitter. Dortmund were hanging on.
At the other end, Sancho set up chances for Julian Brandt and Fullkrug but both missed. Sancho was terrific, so exciting and a throwback to the player United signed in the first place. PSG will be wondering how on earth they did not take at least one chance as Ousmane Dembele skied another big chance over.
At least PSG have the second leg at home next Tuesday to save themselves but Dortmund showed they will not give up easily.

No way Sancho was the problem in , united ,it's lack of unity's from united team and petty issue from the poor coach. united should try Sancho and greenwood and build up their mid under mainoo and get a strong defensive mechanic and they would find their Lost happiness back but not under ETH

if Sancho is that good, Dartmouth should resign him 🤔 because he can't play Premier League football
But he can play UEFA football? must you be that dumb?

He is playing on the right side and has always been explosive on the right. United bought him to play on the right but I was surprised to see him play on the left at United.
When he’s been played at right side at Manchester United he didn’t like it Every player in Manchester United always have something to complain about and think they are they best ever to wear the jersey when they have not even made a name for themselves For two and half years he was shit and there was nothing to show for it He can only do this bit once a while and that’s on those smaller leagues like bundesliga

when you see a player like Sancho playing well, know it's the coach and his approach. I believe players should not be shackled but free to express but must do their job ten hag is poor as a coach
How many coaches can be wrong ? He didn’t do shit under ole or neither ETH ? It’s his attitude not coaches

What message could he send , he was so useless at United . Hopefully he sent a bigger message to Paris , dortmund don’t want to pay for him but with mbappe leaving Paris they have money to spend and hopefully United get some for him before the next. Club notices his diva attitude

Nah… He didn’t do nothing special, this is one BS to try and drive his value up so Dortmund will be forced to pay premium to have him back. People saying ETH messed up the Sancho situation, what about under Ole, what was his record? He played left/ right and even CF Buh didn’t deliver. This is not a case of coach, the players head isn’t there, he’s on big bucks weekly and his attitude is a testament that he doesn’t respect the club not just the coach or team mates. Now a clear question, if he was playing for Madrid will he behave in the same way? I don’t think so… cos he will have the fear of loosing an opportunity of a lifetime to play for one of if not the biggest club in the world. That’s why am hoping that under the Ratcliffe leadership tha all this player power and pampering will be over. As for Sancho, Dortmund can have him cos we ain’t missing jack about him.
Reasonable people still exist and he will definitely do his best to prove Ten Hag wrong but it's still average at best

Sancho is a very good player, ten hag didnt hv pattern no tatic man united are just playing kick and follows
Technical directors contribute to the style, so a lot of that is on Murtough. The transitional system needs fast defenders and a high line with not much space between the lines, which we don't have. If we stick with that style and have faster defenders, I'll be fascinated to see how much we improve

He should stay away if he wants to enjoy and build upon his form.....for now Man utd is not a place for players to be....I don't even know what's happening but man utd was worse this season because of some strings of luck that follows them (They should have lost way more games that they lost)...And I still think it will be worst next season because with the way i'm seeing it, this cycle ain't ending soon
They could have brought you in so you can play in position of the injured players

Or perhaps I have higher expectations of him given the level of talent he has. Good performances are all well and good but a player like him should make game changing contributions

Sancho have been a flop before ETH came to man u that's why he bought Antony
we all Antony was a very bad acquisition. ETH should trust Sancho and Amad in the left. There was no need to buy Antony. look at Amad now, if he goes elsewhere, he will be a top player. This is because someone knows how good they are, but the manager does pick them, he picks someone who is not good enough just because he saw his talents at Ajax, that's rubbish. Sancho should have been playing on the right with Amad as back up, we could have used that money to strengthen other positions, that's all on ETH.

We've always known him to be a good player. Man United, Ten Hag and Sancho's strong-headedness affected his carrier at Man United. Am glad he's getting it back together at Dortmund. I wish him and Greenwood well. GGMU 💪

ETH messed up the Sancho situation from the time he decided to signed Antony. The club spent big money to bring Sancho to play on the right. ETH came in and went big to bring Antony to play the same position. If u are Sancho, u are think the manager doesn’t trust me. And to make it worse, ETH started playing Antony on the right more often while for Sancho, he looked for other positions for him, centre, left hand side, whatever. Let's call a spade a spade guys.
Sancho have been a flop before ETH came to man u that's why he bought Antony
