There has been very little known about the American-based takeover of Real Zaragoza in recent weeks, but information about who is behind the deal has now been released.
According to Spanish newspaper El Heraldo, Jorge Mas, who is the owner of MLS side Inter Miami, is the head of the international group of investors who are set to take over the club.
Jorge Mas, who was born in Miami and is an associate of David Beckham at Inter Miami, has worked with various different businesses throughout his career. He's the president of the Cuban American National Foundation and was named one of the 100 most influential Hispanics in the United States.
Deal almost done
The contract for the takeover at Real Zaragoza has been agreed and just needs to be signed and authorised in Spain, according to reports, with the deal seeing Jorge Mas and his associates take a 90 percent stake in the club.
The new owners will now take on the club's 70 million euro debt and look to invest 20 million euros into the side in an attempt to build a stronger playing squad and win promotion to the top division in Spain.
There will be a total rebuild in all aspects of the club when the season finishes, but the main objective at the moment is to avoid relegation. Zaragoza currently sit seven points off the drop zone after Saturday's victory over Las Palmas.
