Jose Mourinho's former assistant manager at Tottenham and Roma Joao Sacramento has reportedly entered talks to take on the first managerial role of his career.

The 33-year-old coach initially joined forces with Mourinho at Spurs in November 2019 and later followed the decorated manager to the Italian capital last May.

However, in pursuit of a permanent head coach position, Sacramento decided in January to part ways with Mourinho, who has since successfully guided Roma to a first ever European trophy.

Now, several clubs across Europe have reportedly expressed major interest in recruiting the youthful and well-respected Portuguese coach.

According to SunSport, a handful of football clubs across Europe are preparing a swoop for his services, with particular interest circulating in France.

Sacramento spent three years in Ligue 1 with Lille, at one stage briefly deputising for the ex-Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa.

The young coach remained a regular fixture at number two despite a year of managerial ins and outs in 2017, as Franck Passi, Bielsa, Fernando Da Cruz and Christophe Galtier each took the Lille hot seat within a year.

Sacramento himself took over as the club's interim coach for six matches at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

With a background in video analysis and a Master's degree in Sports Coaching and Performance at the University of South Wales, the Portuguese coach has developed the skills necessary to manage at top flight level.

As well as gaining experience from the likes of Mourinho and Bielsa, Sacramento also worked as a scout for Claudio Ranieri and Leonardo Jardim during a three-year spell at Monaco.

Although he has not been a permanent number one, the 33-year-old remains an exciting prospect, as many clubs are keen to invest in an up-and-coming young coach with bundles of potential.
