Liverpool are facing fixture uncertainty over when their Carabao Cup quarter-final match will take place.
It was confirmed today by the English Football League that the club were in discussion to work out a date for the game against Aston Villa after beating Arsenal on penalties at Anfield last night, following a thrilling 5-5 draw in normal time.
There were then reports on Thursday evening stating Liverpool and the EFL had discussed the possibility of the Reds playing their League Cup game against Villa on the same night as their semi-final in the FIFA World Club Cup competition on December 18.
However, the ECHO understands Klopp is likely to be against fielding two teams, in two different competitions on the same night.
The League Cup quarter-final ties are due to be played during the week commencing December 16, but that is when Klopp and his side fly out for the Club World Cup in Qatar.
Liverpool will play on the 18th and again on the 21st over in Doha.
The busy Christmas Premier League schedule then follows, so fitting in a Carabao Cup fixture anytime in 2019 looks nigh on impossible.
The most likely night for Liverpool's clash away at Villa in the League Cup is January 8.
Liverpool will face an FA Cup third round clash on the weekend of 4th/5th January - almost certainly on Sunday 5th given they host Sheffield United in the league on the evening of the 2nd.
That potentially leaves Wednesday 8th free. Although, that midweek is when a potential Carabao Cup semi-final first leg would be due to take place.
But it's conceivable that the first game of a semi could be bumped back a week, so the quarter-final and semi-final first leg could take place in consecutive midweeks with the second leg of the semi a fortnight later.
That would mean a quarter-final on 8th of January, and should Liverpool win - a semi-final first leg on 14th/15th with the second leg on Wednesday 29th.

Liverpool breaking records! playing two different matches on the same day ? , who is to manage the second team? , maybe we appoint a player coach, England with too much of wise men meaning over wisdom

The FA got to make some changes in order to accommodate Liverpool. I am not favouring Liverpool but I can't imagine any of the top 6 teams would want to play 2 games in same day. Does any team have the depth to compete both competition using the 1st team plus reserves? Else they will have to field their youths. But to play 2 games on same night, I believe many top teams would rather forgo domestic cups by fielding weak teams then ppl can't blame them for disrespect cup competitions

This is real life football guys, we are not playing FIFA. The CWC will be played in Qatar! We will not be able to have enough quality players. For e.g., Adrian will normally be on the bench for both matches. How does he do that? Ok let's assume we are able to field 2 different teams. What about the manager, the coaches, the staff?

It's not a wise decision to put 2 teams on the same day. Cuz both teams must contain our best players. Which means players in both teams can get injuries same day which will deprive us of good reserve.
It would be cool though

Dear Liverpool fans. Lets keep our objective clear and simple as in the beginning of the season. Premier league title is what the team wants at the moment not even champions league if they were to trade. So if the EFL doesn't find appropriate time for Liverpool to play the quarter finals then the best decision is to pull out of the competition and use some fresh legs for WC club championship

it's easy on Papers, do you think they will Disappear from one Stadium to the other overnight, flights time alone can make a player very tired, not to mention the minutes he spends on the field before traveling
