Lee Kang-in 'could face £600,000 lawsuit after trying to punch Son Heung-min

A South Korea star is reportedly facing a £600,000 lawsuit from advertisers after trying to punch Son Heung-min on South Korea duty - and could be obliged to pay millions more for contract violations.

Lee Kang-in was involved in a furious bust-up with Son at a meal during the Asian Cup which left the Spurs star with a dislocated finger.

The PSG midfielder could now be take to court by advertisers who employ him after causing 'social controversy', according to Allkpop.

Video games company Nexon is facing complaints from the public for including him in advertisements and KT, a telecommunications company, is looking into terminating their deal with him.

KT has also ordered posters of him to be removed nationwide, although they claim this action was 'due to the end of a purchase benefit promotion'.

Allkpop also claim that Lee-Kang in could be asked to pay a penalty between around £2.9million and £4.5m to advertisers.

The website states it is common for advertising contract s to inclue a clause where 'a penalty of 2 to 3 times the advertising fee will be paid' if one causes 'social controversy'.

Lee-Kang in has apologised for his row with Son but denied reports that he punched him.

He said: 'Reports were made that I had an argument with Son Heung-min brother before the Asian Cup semifinals. I have greatly disappointed soccer fans who have always supported our national team. I am truly sorry.'

Son had to play with a bandage on his finger as South Korea went on to lose their Asian Cup semi-final with Jordan 2-0, with manager Jurgen Klinsmann subsequently being sacked.

A fracas flared up between Son and team-mates on the eve of the clash.

Reports claimed that a number of young players in the squad had rushed eating their meal so they could dash off and play table tennis which infuriated Son, with the situation further escalating from there.

Son was keen for the players to eat together for longer to bond as a team.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency first reported that Son initially tried to talk to the younger players, including PSG starlet Lee Kang-in.

The incident then turned physical when they refused to listen to their skipper, which saw a furious Son grab Lee.

In a moment of madness, the PSG forward reportedly tried to punch Son in retaliation before the two players had to be pulled apart.

The Korea Football Association (KFA) confirmed that the reports around the incident were true.

'It happened when some young players went up to play table tennis, and Son Heung-min and other older players took issue with it,' an official said, as quoted by Yonhap.

'The players exchanged a few words and Son hurt his finger in the process,' the official added.
