Manchester United's legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted Erik ten Hag needs to get in control of the club if he wants to bring back the glory days, after his appointment was announced last week.
The Dutchman becomes the fifth permanent successor to Ferguson since the legendary Scot retired at the end of the 2012/13 season.
The Red Devils have struggled since Ferguson retired, having failed to win the Premier League since, and even going without a trophy since 2017 when Jose Mourinho's won them the Europa League.
David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have all failed to succeed at Old Trafford.
Interim boss Ralf Rangnick has not found life in the hot seat any easier for the second half of the current campaign, as they currently sit sixth in the Premier League.
United look set to miss out of Champions League football next season as a top four finish is now looking unlikely with just four matches left to play.
Ferguson, who led United to 13 league titles, two Champions Leagues and a host of cup victories in his 27-year spell, appeared on RTE Racing in his capacity as co-owner of horse Clan des Obeaux and broke his silence on the appointment of Ten Hag.
The former boss was keen to wish ten Hag well, but had a strong message to the Ajax boss to get control of the club, who are struggling to compete with the big guns of Manchester City and Liverpool.
Fergie told RTE Racing: 'I hope he does well [Ten Hag], because the club needs someone to get in control.'
The 80-year-old went on to reveal he 'hopes' Ten Hag is the right man for the job
He added: 'I hope he does well yeah.'
Commentary legend Des Scahill added: 'Well, we were spoiled; this man [Sir Alex] gave us so many great days. We're suffering at the moment, but we keep the faith.'

in every club there's a greatest consequences of having a single for 15 plus years. that's why Manchester United, Arsenal are struggling at the moment because of that experience. however, good days will surely come back.

the problem is not coaches but the way we buy players, how do you buy just a few good players and mix with 4 lazy players while our friends have 14 high quality players.

Jose is not fail to succeed, 3 years is not enough to build a team, look at City and Liverpool, they took at least 5 years to become a team they are today...im sure if Jose still here, United won't be far away from them...and for sure Maguire will be kick down to U15's...
