Barcelona will be without the services of defender Clement Lenglet against Leganes after their appeal against his red card was unsuccessful.
The Frenchman was dismissed after the referee, following consultation with VAR, showed him a red card for an apparent elbow on Pere Pons during Sunday's clash with Girona.
Although the Blaugrana attempted to appeal the decision, the Competition Committee announced on Tuesday that the red card has been upheld.
The club's argument was based on the fact that it was an involuntary movement and the result of a natural reaction but the committee have deemed that it carried intent.
Lenglet's red card is one of the first controversies that has arisen from the implementation of VAR in LaLiga Santander this season.

The same ref didn't show red card to Marcelo when he kicked Leo, but he carded Lenglet for something that wasn't serious like Marcelo's foul

This red card on Lenglet changes absloutely nothing on what I think of him. Really great CB and is very promising, red cards are part of the game and happens to the best of us. I just hope this doesn't affect him emotionally.
