Lewandowski set for talks with Barca over wage rise despite uncertainty future

Barcelona are set to hold talks with Robert Lewandowski over his wages for the 2023-24 season as the club look to make changes in attack.

Spanish outlet Sport report that Barca's sporting director Deco and president Joan Laporta are so to meet the striker's representative Pini Zahavi, who is scheduled to visit the club next week.

While the former La Liga champions still consider Lewandowski to be an important player for the team, they would take into account the fact that the veteran forward will turn 36 this year. Xavi is on a mission to bolster his team's attack ahead of the next season and will look to sign multiple attacking players.

Lewandowski is reportedly playing for his future as Barcelona prepare for a summer fire sale, with only three stars safe from the chop.

He will earn £22.5m over the course of this season, with that set to rise to £27.7m next campaign.

According to The Athletic, only Lamine Yamal (16), Pau Cubarsi (17) and Gavi (19) have 'untouchable' status.

They represent the next generation of La Masia graduates and it is far easier to keep such players on diminished salaries compared to long-established stars.
