Liverpool 'eyeing £35m transfer' for Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks

Liverpool are reportedly linking up a shock £35million transfer swoop for Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to add some width to the champions ahead of next term as the Reds look to back-up their first-ever Premier League title.

Brooks looks set to depart Dean Court after the Cherries were relegated with injury curtailing the Welsh international's involvement to just nine appearances.

And Liverpool are weighing up a swoop for the 23-year-old, according to The Sun.

Brooks played a starring role in his first top-flight campaign in 2018-19 having moved to the south coast in a £12million deal from Sheffield United.

He has netted eight times in 30 Premier League outings and his impressive displays earned him a new long-term contract at Bournemouth.

His performances since the restart have caught the eye but he and his teammates fell just short in their bid to retain the Cherries' top-flight status.

Ryan Fraser has already left the club after his contract expired with strike duo Callum Wilson and Josh King set to follow him through the exit.

Eddie Howe, who led Bournemouth through the leagues as boss, has also departed the club.

It was confirmed on Saturday that Jason Tindall, who had been Howe's assistant, has signed a three-year deal to become new manager.

“It’s an honour and a privilege to be the manager of such a great football club,” Tindall told afcbTV.

“Given the success of the club over the last 12 years, with Eddie in charge and me by his side, I'm not going to come in and rip everything up and start again. I would be a fool to do that.

“But I’m my own person with my own ideas and I will be looking to implement them as soon as we get back on the training ground.

“I know the Championship is a very tough league but my aim is to get this club back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

“This is a challenge that I feel I’m ready for and one I’m looking forward to."
