Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has hit out at Marcus Rashford for his performance against Chelsea in their Premier League clash on Thursday evening.
Fowler criticised the 26-year-old failing to 'recognise the danger' and 'not even looking' before Cole Palmer's last-gasp winner in Chelsea's 4-3 victory.
Fowler also slammed the squad as a whole for switching off when Chelsea were awarded the corner in extra time, claiming it's a 'trait of the modern game'.
He said the Red Devils are reliant on their coaches to tell them what to do and that they need leaders within the squad if they are going to succeed.
After watching Palmer's winner back in the SunSport studio, Fowler said: 'Players can't really think for themselves at that particular time.'
He went on to add: 'They're waiting for someone maybe on the side, the manager or coaches, to make the decision for them.
'That moment [Chelsea's corner in the 90+11 minute of the game] was screaming for someone [from the United team] to take charge.
'You've got the captain of Manchester United [Bruno Fernandes] who is on the front post and he probably can't get out, but he can make more of an effort to get out there and close the space down for Cole Palmer to shoot.
'But I think it's in keeping with Manchester United. They have lacked leaders this season and that is a classic example of Manchester United.'
Fowler felt Rashford was responsible for Palmer's final goal - claiming he wasn't even looking as Enzo Fernandez found the 21-year-old on the edge of the box.
The Blues pulled off a sensational injury-time comeback to beat Manchester United 4-3 in their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
The Red Devils had gone behind within four minutes as Chelsea raced to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Conor Gallagher and Palmer.
Thankfully for Ten Hag's side, Alejandro Garnacho and captain Fernandes found the back of the net to make it 2-2 by half-time.
Garnacho made it 3-2 to United in the 67th minute of the game, leading the Red Devils to believe they had done enough to secure all three points.
However, Chelsea starlet Palmer managed to find the net twice in stoppage time to claim a dramatic victory at Stamford Bridge.
United fans were furious with the result and took particular issue with Rashford after his lacklustre performance.
After scoring a career-best 30 goals in all competitions last season the 26-year-old has struggled to replicate such form this term.
The England international's poor performances on the pitch have been further marred by incidents away from football.
Those incidents include the now-infamous 12-hour bender in Belfast back in January that saw him miss a training session prior to an FA Cup match.
In response to growing discontent from the club's fanbase, the England international hit back at those questioning his commitment to United in an editorial last month.
However, despite assurances that he is giving his all for his boyhood club, some United fans on social media are not convinced.
They fired back at Rashford after a clip from Thursday's game started doing the rounds on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In the clip, Rashford can be seen trailing Blues talisman Palmer after he received the ball but does not attempt to make a challenge to win back possession.
The grievances from United fans comes just weeks after similar complaints were shared online after United's narrow 2-1 win over Luton.
At Kenilworth Road, Hatters midfielder Ross Barkley easily found his way past Rashford, while the forward made no attempt to make a tackle.

The best decision for Man Utd would be to offload Rashford this coming summer to infatuated suitors like PSG who can overpay for his non-league performances.
that highly depends on your definition of 'star players'. Signing Rashford to be a star player is a gamble that perhaps PSG can try to orchestrate. IMHO, he's going down for good, his work rate is decreasing, his hunger is decreasing... I hope I'm wrong

his graph is inconsistent, he's come to accept below average performance. I can't promise he'll succeed there but better try.
That’s what u want but we all see that star players get back to there best after leaving Man U

if I was among the board members of man u I would sell Rashford within zero minutes, he's failed to prove that he can carry united on his shoulder, eversince he was promoted, it was only last season that he tried, he should leave the club they're the once failing the coach with their stupid mentality

I don't care what anyone said, I will love Rushford forever because I'm not one of the fans that already forgot or ignore that he carried Manchester last season. I'll be patient and wait for his form to return no matter how long it takes
