Real Madrid's Clásico draw with Barcelona saw their long-held intercontinental dominance come to an end as they played their last game as Club World Cup holders.
By the time Madrid play their final game of 2019 against Athletic Bilbao this Sunday, a new world champion will have been crowned in Qatar - either Flamengo or Liverpool, who face off in Saturday's Club World Cup final.
Wednesday night's Clásico marked the end of an unprecedented streak in the history of football: Madrid had accumulated 176 official matches as kings of the world game.
Such a streak was made possible thanks to the three consecutive Champions League titles won by Zidane in 2016, 2017 and 2018, which in turn led Madrid to become world champion in those years after three consecutive Club World Cup final victories against Japanese club Kashima Antlers (2016), Gremio of Brazil (2017) and Abu Dhabi-based outfit Al Ain (2018).
