Maignan reveals how Ibrahimovic reacted to being called a 's*** attacker'

Former PSG goalkeeper Mike Maignan has lifted the lid on a training ground row he had with Zlatan Ibrahimovic - and the Swedish superstar's unexpected response.

Maignan, who is preparing to face Chelsea with Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday night, came through the ranks at PSG but never played a first-team game.

He did, however, train with big names including Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani and Marco Verratti as he attempted to move up from the club's B team.

And on one occasion he got on the wrong side of the former AC Milan, Barcelona and Inter striker, even though he was only 17 years old at the time.

'He was practising shooting and the ball was going past me at 400km an hour!' Maignan explained to France Football. 'Gianluigi Buffon, Julio Cesar, these guys wouldn't have stopped those shots.

'He told me: "You're a s*** goalkeeper."

'For me, that wasn't right. The next time, he came back but I stopped his shot. I had to respond: "You're a s*** attacker."

'He just looked at me and didn't say anything.'

However Maignan, who has since made over 100 appearances for Lille after joining them in 2015, admits that he ultimately came away from the incident with even more respect for Ibrahimovic following a dressing room chat after training.

He added: 'Back in the changing room, he [Ibrahimovic] stopped me. He told me that it's good, that he liked what I did and that he liked my personality.

'I loved him before but it made me like him even more.'
