Haiti's World Cup jersey features its first national flag, not Poland's

On June 10th, a post circulated on domestic and international social media, claiming that the Haitian national team's FIFA World Cup jersey featured the Polish flag, a tribute to the Polish Legion soldiers who helped Haiti gain independence more than 200 years ago.

However, Haiti's official jersey sponsor did not release any statements regarding the alleged Polish flag. The official jersey description reads: "More than two centuries ago, a nation was born. Today, a new era has begun. This is more than just a jersey; it is a tribute to the Haitian people. Our history is not just passed down orally – we wear history, defend history, and proudly carry on history. For 222 years, the Haitian people have always been proud of their country, always hoping for a better day. Haiti boasts mountains, clear seas, and palm tree landscapes, but the most precious thing is the people of this land! Wear history, wear pride."

In fact, the flag on the Haitian team's jersey is not white and red, but blue and red, which was Haiti's first national flag adopted after its independence in 1804. The 1843 Haitian Constitution also contained this flag design.

Because the Haitian national team's home jersey is predominantly blue, the designers deliberately brightened the blue hue of the flag, which led to the flag on the jersey looking similar to a white and red color scheme in some photos. Referring to the team's away jersey can completely dispel this misunderstanding.

In the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico, Haiti has been drawn into Group C, with opponents Scotland, Brazil, and Morocco.
