Man City record signing Jack Grealish admits he '100%' wants to return to Aston Villa one day

Jack Grealish has admitted that he wants to return to Aston Villa in the future and revealed he will not celebrate should he score against his former side on Wednesday night.

Grealish left his boyhood club in summer as his £100million summer move to Manchester City saw him become the record signing between British clubs.

The 26-year-old has struggled slightly in his start to life at the Etihad, scoring just two goals in 15 appearances for the club this term.

The England international has not featured for Pep Guardiola's side since before the international break but he is expected to be welcomed back for their trip to his former club Aston Villa.

Grealish, who joined Villa as a six-year-old, revealed he will always love the club and admitted to crying on his departure.

'I knew some people would be unhappy when I left, and I can see why some were like that, but I gave my all for the club every single year I was there. If I score, I'm not going to be celebrating,' he told The Telegraph.

'You can't imagine how hard it was for me to leave. I went for a run in the morning, a load of people took photographs of me and it was all on social [media] that I was staying.

'I came back and had to address all the players and staff. There were about 70 people there. I spoke for about a minute-and-a-half, then I had to stop because I had a lump in my throat and was crying.

'I was a bit surprised by some of the backlash when I left. I'd never want a toxic relationship with anyone there. I owe everything to them and I wouldn't be at City without Villa.

'It's a club that is so close to my heart and I definitely hope to go back there.

'That's always been in my mind. Ashley Young has done it and I want to do the same, 100 per cent.'

City sit second in the Premier League, just one point behind leaders Chelsea as they head to Villa Park on Wednesday.

Ahead of the clash, Guardiola backed Grealish to become a hit at the Etihad Stadium and believes he is getting to grips with the demands placed upon him after a £100million summer move from Villa.

'I would say he's settled perfectly, he knows many English players,' Guardiola added. 'He's not a problem, he play good but has to find a bit of time. If you analyse the games, he's not played bad.

'With the quality it's difficult to play bad. It's different for him here but he did it incredibly well, what he did at Villa was amazing, helping them get up and stay there.

'We want to see it (from him) now. We've six or seven months with a lot of nice things, we want to see it this season.'
