Manchester City's academy has produced £70million in player sales in just four years.
The Premier League champions have eclipsed their big six rivals in the amount made on young talent nurtured in their system.
Jadon Sancho, Pablo Maffeo, Marcos Lopes and Jason Denayer are just a few of the prospects who developed at the state-of-the-art Etihad complex before being sold.
And City, who spent £200m on building their academy, will soon have paid for the initial outlay, according research by the Mirror.
Given the rich level of world class players available to the first team, it has become increasingly difficult for the best youth prospects to make the cut.
These promising stars have often opted to pursue their career elsewhere, but City can command hefty fees for them.
England international Jadon Sancho is a recent example. He turned down a £30,000-a-week offer so that he could move to Borussia Dortmund.
City are determined to squeeze as much as possible from the deals and routinely add huge sell-on clauses to the contracts.
Both Sancho and former left-back Maffeo, who joined Stuttgart for £8.8m, have a 25 per cent sell-on clause inserted into their contracts.
Denayer joined Lyon for £12m in August this year and goalkeeper Angus Gunn moved to Southampton for £13.5m.
The amount of money pumped into the academy systems of England's big six clubs is significant and teams on the continent are routinely circling for the best young English talent.
For the players themselves, a clearer path to first-team football abroad is an attractive prospect.
Sancho has excelled for Dortmund and Everton's Ademola Lookman impressed on loan at RB Leipzig on loan, although the Toffees refused to sanction a permanent deal.
Since 2014, 42 academy players have been sold by City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United.
A staggering total of £113,714,252m has been raised from those sales and the trend shows no sign of slowing down.

At least they win matches, they have great ratings on Match Attax and now there 1st.It dosn't matter if they don't have much power as Ramos or the tough players. I get that ur saying that they don't treat youth players correctly but they might start. So are you OK with that?

What are you talking about they aren't the best at giving youngsters a chance that's why Sancho is succeeding at Dortmund because Dortmund know how to treat youth players!!! Its not always about money!!! I'm still surprised Phil foden is still in city!! He should go to Dortmund or Monaco to expose his talent!!!

They try don’t you see? They offered sancho 30,000 per week but he decided to leave because City is just too good for them to get many chances

As a non Man City fan I think it's good that their academy is doing well - I'd like all the English clubs to have successful academies - but talking about player sales alone is pretty meaningless. How much did they buy these players for? Many of them are not even English never mind local lads. How much does it cost to run the academy? I bet City spend a LOT more on theirs than most other clubs. I'm not knocking them as a rival fan, like I say, I'd like all English clubs to get this right as I think it would be good for all of us in the long run, but talking about sales alone is not a like-for-like comparison.
Most academy players they get for free or next to nothing

God, why does everybody (City and opposing fans) have to jump straight into an argument in the comments? Pathetic. You don't have to be a businessman to know you can generate more scenarios of how you go about success when you invest your own capital. No doubt someone will reply with "screeeeee Liverpool fan *other ramble*" or just copy that trying to be clever.

City do not rely on money from their owners. They bought the club in 2008 for 200m. In 2013 they sold 13% of the club to a Chinese media mogul for 213m. So the shiekh has got his original investment back and is now reaping the benefits of the club making a profit.

Good business by City. If a Foden comes through keep him. If a Sancho comes through, try to keep him, but if not, be fair to him and sell him to a good club. If other players come through , who are very good, but are not going to compete with a Silva, sell them on. £60 million profit, well done City. £200 million invested in the Academy , well done City. The younger players put them in a top class fee paying school. If a lad is released by the Academy, still pay for his education. Well done City. We have bought too much oil over the years from the Sheikhs, if they want to invest in us, well done City. Teams over the decades, have had multi millionaires and businesses backing them, today it is City¿s turn. No problem at all. City, well done.

The academy is there to make money for the club. If we get any great youngsters come through that is a bonus. Let's not forget the youngsters who go through the academy, they get a great start in life with a private education whilst doing what they love.
