Wout Weghorst could soon become a Manchester United player after it was revealed that the Premier League side have entered negotiations with the striker's parent club Burnley.
But as the Dutchman - currently on-loan at Turkish side Besiktas - dreams of a move to Manchester and another stab in the English top-flight, questions have been raised over his attitude.
Weghorst, has enjoyed a stellar season so far at Besiktas, scoring nine goals in 18 appearances for the Turkish side, and has put himself in the frame for a January move to United.
While he may be viewed as a relatively quiet character off the pitch, the striker comes with an aura of confidence that some of his teammates at Burnley viewed as arrogance, as reported by The Athletic.
Seen as the striker that would help Burnley pull off another Premier League relegation escape, Weghorst arrived in England at the start of 2022 boasting the reputation of being one of the Bundesliga's most dangerous strikers, bagging 70 goals in 144 Bundesliga appearances.
The 30-year-old wasn't able to replicate the goalscoring form that earned him a move to England, but his determination to improve his craft saw him clash with fellow Burnley stars.
The club's tumultuous 21/22 season ended in relegation with Weghorst unable to stop the rot as Burnley dropped into the Championship, but it wasn't for the Dutchman's lack of trying.
Weghorst was so determined to make his move to England a success that he would message teammates late at night to discuss tactics, and wouldn't be afraid to call out players if he didn't think they were trying hard enough.
As relegation loomed nearer Weghorst continued to adorn his ultra-competitive attitude, with suggestions that some of his teammates took this as arrogance rather than confidence in his own abilities.
Burnley's Premier League axing confirmed Weghorst's departure with a clause inserted in his contract that allowed him to leave if the club were relegated.
Now at Besiktas, Manchester United's complicated approach would require Weghorst's current loan deal to be torn up and for him to then return to Burnley before heading back out on loan to Old Trafford.
At 6ft 6in, Weghorst would offer Man United's attack an alternative option that currently eludes them with Reds boss Ten Hag desperate to bring in a central striker during the January transfer window but being limited to loan offers only by the club's owners.

Why not go for Toney of Brighton
Ivan Toney is a player with Brentford not Brighton and yes, I’ve equally been wondering why United can’t go for him; he’s really good

Why not go for Toney of Brighton
Toney has been accused of being involved in gambling and fixing multiple times he can get into very serious trouble like Greenwood that's the reason no club is in for him

I believe that since Eric Ten Hag became United coach all the players we signed was not rumored more than three days. he goes straight to pick a player he want and he doesn't talk too much. Erickson, Casemiro and Antony was not rumored too much before they were signed. Ten Hag is a soldier he doesn't talk too much but he take action
