Manchester United's chances of finishing in the top four this season have dropped by a staggering 35 per cent, according to Opta's AI supercomputer.

The Red Devils have endured a difficult start to their 2023-24 campaign, having already fallen to two Premier League defeats against Spurs and Arsenal.

On top of their on-pitch struggles, the ongoing sagas surrounding Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho and Antony have caused disruptions in the squad.

And, with all this in mind, Opta's supercomputer has - once again - crunched the numbers for their Premier League predictions and it doesn't make for pretty reading for the Red Devils.

Prior to the season beginning, the supercomputer claimed that United had a 63.2 per cent chance of achieving a top four finish this season.

However, after just four games, the supercomputer has reassessed their chances and now suggest the Red Devils have a 28.42 per cent of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Prior to the 2023-24 campaign, United were also given a 1.70 per cent likelihood to win the Premier League. They now have a 0.09 chance, according to the stats.

As United's predicted league finish continues to drop, one of their league rivals have been given a favourable reassessment by the prediction machine.

Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham have made a bright start to their domestic campaign and have already seen their chances of finishing in the top four grow.

Before the season began, Opta claim Spurs had a measly 9.5 per cent chance of returning to Europe's elite competition.

Now, after achieving 10 points from their opening four games, the supercomputer says Spurs have a 31.86 per cent chance of landing in the top four.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, Everton's chances of surviving a relegation battle have been dealt a huge blow after their poor start to the league.

The Toffees' slow start to the campaign - which has seen them pick up one point from their opening four games - has seen them drop significantly down the supercomputer's predictions.

Prior to the campaign, Opta's stats machine suggested Sean Dyche's side had a 34.41 per cent of going down.

Now, the struggling Merseyside club have a 52.34 per cent chance of going down. As it stands, only Luton Town and Sheffield United are more likely to get relegated.
