The Premier League is currently the most lucrative league in world football - with some of England’s top spenders splashing around £6.5billion between them.
UEFA have recently compiled a list of some of the most expensive squads currently taking to the pitch across Europe. Unsurprisingly, the Premier League dominates the top 20 at the end of the 2023 financial year.
Manchester United sit at the top of the list after years of heavy spending. The Red Devils’ squad is currently worth around £1.21bn, although that has not done them many favours with Erik ten Hag’s side battling to secure a place in Europe come the end of the campaign.
Cross-city rivals Manchester City sit second in the list. Their squad is apparently worth £1.1bn. Pep Guardiola’s side have earned plenty of benefits from those loose purse strings after lifting the historic treble last term.
Chelsea round off a Premier League top three with a squad value of £927m. The Blues have spent heavily following the arrival of Todd Boehly at Stamford Bridge with lucrative deals for Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Mykhaylo Mudryk right at the top of the list.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain complete the top five. The pair can boast squad values of £882m and £802m respectively. Premier League clubs then re-enter the list. Current title rivals Liverpool and Arsenal claim sixth and seventh spot in UEFA’s list.
Liverpool have splashed the cash during Jurgen Klopp’s period at Anfield including on current record signing Darwin Nunez, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker. Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta has been given plenty of freedom in the transfer market at Arsenal and sealed a £105m deal for Declan Rice in the summer.
Juventus are then next in the list with a squad value of £658m, while yet another Premier League side claims tenth. Tottenham’s current incumbent are reportedly worth £570m in transfer fees.
European giants and last season’s Champions League finalists Inter Milan are just about edged out of the top ten. The Italian side boast a squad worth £504m, while Barcelona - who are set to lose the services of manager Xavi at the end of the season - spent around £493m to put their squad together.
Newcastle then follow the Catalan side after a couple of seasons of heavy spending. The Magpies have not been afraid to dip into the market under their Saudi owners - something that earned them a place in the Champions League this season. They have reportedly spent £464m to put their squad together.
Bayern Munich claim 12th with a squad outlay of £457m - a fee that is sure to include a huge deal for Harry Kane. Their German rivals RB Leipzig are next in the list with a £433m spend.
Aston Villa edge ahead of reigning Italian giants Napoli with respective outlays of £421m and £381m. Another claret and blue donning Premier League side are then next in the list. West Ham apparently spent £379m on their squad en route to winning the Europa Conference League.
Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund follow the Hammers with spends of £369m and £334m to their name. AC Milan round off the top 20 with a relatively conservative £287m transfer spend.

Spending from when to when? What periods are covered??? some clubs don't make public what they pay their players and coaches. The price in the public space is not the same with the actual salary of the players, or even signing of those players. Otherwise tell how on earth would City tell the public that they signed Haaland for just 51 million pounds from Dortmund and Man U signed Sancho 72M... Something is not adding up well
you are speaking the truth I believe you. Too much too much things going on the ground too many things going wrong... too much dirty business, going on in man city.

After all the billions they spent we flocked them all, I am talking of Man Urinated, Man Cheaty, and that Floppapool. As for that Chelshit, they will come and meet us at Emirates, West Ham score will repeat itself.
I can see why you fail all English tests lol 😂
