Manchester City mourn the tragic death of former youth player Jeremy Wisten

Manchester City announced on Sunday, October 25, that one of their former youth players, Jeremy Wisten, has sadly died. Wisten, who was born in Malawi, was 17 years old and joined City in 2016. In a post on social media, the club also sent their condolences to his family.

"The Manchester City family are saddened to learn of the passing of former Academy player Jeremy Wisten," it read. "We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time." Nothing is known yet about the causes of his death, as his family have not yet made a public statement.

However, reports in England state that Wisten may have gone into depression after being let go by City two years ago. Since the news broke, the expressions of affection have only increased. Among them, some messages from players who played in City's academy with him and who wanted to show their sadness for what happened. Cole Palmer, Liam Delap and Tommy Doyle, among others.

The message from Palmer, a midfielder for City and a former team-mate of Wisten, put a post on Instagram. "You will always be missed," it read, along with a video with photos of both of them.
