Manchester United have 'concrete interest' in Emiliano Martinez and more transfer rumours

Manchester United reportedly have a 'concrete interest' in signing Aston Villa and Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as the club ponders the future of David de Gea.

As reported by Football Insider, the Reds are looking at potential candidates to replace the Spanish shot-stopper. De Gea is out of contract at the end of the current season and the club are yet to trigger the 12-month extension to his contract.

Martinez is said to highly rated by United's recruitment team and the Reds are reportedly interested in a move for the former Arsenal man - with his performances for Argentina at the recent World Cup in Qatar further raising his profile. The 30-year-old played a vital role in the South American side's penalty shootout victory over France in the final.

The goalkeeper, who has also been linked with a move to Bayern Munich following the injury to Manuel Neuer, joined Villa in the summer of 2020 for an initial £17million, rising to £20million. However, the report also adds that his future at Villa Park is under threat amid 'friction' with new manager Unai Emery.

Elsewhere, Fichajes have reported that Alexis Mac Allister, who also impressed for Argentina in Qatar, is a target for United. It is thought that Erik ten Hag is keen to upgrade his midfield in the upcoming transfer windows.

The Brighton ace has made 14 appearances for the Seagulls in all competitions so far this season, with the 23-year-old having registered five goals. He featured in six of Argentina's seven matches at the World Cup and started in the final against France, where he grabbed an assist.

It is also thought that Premier League rivals Arsenal are in the hunt for the 23-year-old. However, he recently signed a new deal with Brighton until 2025.
