Manchester United players present David de Gea with special shirt after breaking clean sheet record

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea was given a special shirt to commemorate him becoming the club's all-time record clean sheet holder.

De Gea achieved the feat as Manchester United beat Newcastle 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final, with the Spaniard keeping his 181st clean sheet since joining the club in 2011.

In doing so, de Gea moved ahead of the legendary Peter Schmeichel.

De Gea was presented with the shirt by United manager Erik ten Hag, with the rest of the squad also in attendance as they flew back to Manchester.

Ten Hag's side are now preparing for Wednesday's FA Cup clash at home to West Ham.

During his time at the club de Gea has witnessed plenty of ups and downs for the team as a whole, but he remains firmly established as United's first-choice goalkeeper.

Unlike many of his United team-mates, de Gea had won silverware with the club prior to Sunday's success having lifted the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League.

De Gea will hope to add further to his trophy haul this season, with United still active in the FA Cup and the Europa League, while they can't be ruled out of contention in the Premier League.

So far this season de Gea has kept 16 clean sheets for United across all competitions, with ten of those having come in the Premier League.
