Manchester United's Signe Bruun will return to Lyon after her disappointing loan spell

Signe Bruun will not be returning to Manchester United Women this summer following her loan spell with the club last season.

The striker joined United on loan from Lyon in January but she was unable to hit the ground running as injuries hampered her game time.

United were weighing up the possibility of going back in for Bruun as they look to close the gap on the clubs above them in the WSL.

But Bruun is still under contract with Lyon, meaning United would have to pay a fee to lure her away from the French side.

The 24-year-old Denmark international could still join another WSL club before the start of the 2022-2023 season.

Bruun joined Lyon last summer after helping Paris Saint-Germain win the French title.

Elsewhere, Australian international Caitlin Foord is close to signing a new contract with Arsenal.

The striker has had lots of interest from clubs across Europe but is leaning towards remaining in North London.

Foord scored four goals and made three assists in 16 games for the Gunners last season.
