Marcus Rashford has responded to criticism from Roy Keane and Jamie Redknapp for his goal celebration against Tottenham on Sunday by replying to a supporter who was clarifying the Man United star's gesture.
The England international is showing signs of returning to form after scoring for a second consecutive Premier League match and recording his first Old Trafford goal since May last year.
His pinpoint execution gave United the lead for the second time against Spurs before the visitors rallied late on to take a point away from the Premier League encounter.
Rashford celebrated his strike by gesturing a mouth with his hand that was made in reference to outside noise and criticism directed at him and his team-mates during their struggles this season.
The 26-year-old has confirmed that his celebration was instead aimed at critics who called him out for being disloyal to United after commenting on Jadon Sancho's Instagram post confirming his move back to Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho was previously exiled from Erik ten Hag's first-team squad at United over disciplinary issues and has been sent to spend the remainder of the season on loan away from Old Trafford in Germany.
Rashford commented 'Yesirrrrr' alongside a heart on a picture posted by Sancho of him taking part in Dortmund training, with many United supporters annoyed by his show of support.
He confirmed that his celebration against Tottenham was referencing the incident when a fan posted an explanation online, stating: 'He's clearly referring to the abuse he's been subjected to this week since he commented on Sancho's post.
'They literally questioned his loyalty and commitment to us, and he did shut them up by scoring AND assisting. If he didn't score, he's s***e, if he does it's this BS.'
Rashford surprisingly replied by posting online: 'Thank you for clarifying this matter.'
His revelation comes in the wake of Keane and Redknapp who fumed at the forward for producing such a reaction given his struggling form at United this season.
'We need to see more, he's showed it before, he's got the quality. Why does he seem to be upset with everybody? He's got to go and enjoy it he's playing for Man United,' Keane told Sky Sports.
'He simplified his game [today]. He's obviously been told by his manager, the coaching staff that when we are in possession, in space, you've got to run in this game,' he said.
Redknapp similarly stated: 'He's got no right to be upset, he's not done the business!. That's not good enough!'

Manchester United's biggest problem is Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes. Nonsensical clowns calling themselves legends! So provocative! Bullshit!
