Marseille CEO rules out bringing Cristiano Ronaldo to the French club in January

Marseille have ruled out the possibility of signing Cristiano Ronaldo in the January transfer window, citing that their squad is more about the team than any one individual.

Ronaldo's future at Manchester United is in doubt following his actions during Wednesday night's 2-0 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese star is said to have refused to be subbed on during the victory and then stormed down the tunnel before the final whistle. He has since been dropped from the United squad who travel to play Chelsea on Saturday.

His behaviour has fulled fresh speculation that he could exit Old Trafford in January, however, one possible suitor has quickly squashed any possibility of bringing in the 37-year-old.

Marseille CEO Pablo Longoria was asked about the club's possible interest in signing the Portuguese star, but he gave a damming response to the notion and said that he doesn't fit the current ethos at the club. Stating that everyone must be on the same page.

'Cristiano Ronaldo? We always enter into conversations. Football is very clear, you do with the means you have at your disposal, with an economic balance. You have to do everything to get the best results, look for ways to improve the team but with financial stability'. Longoria said.

'This is important in 2022. We need a lasting economic situation. We are far from ideas like that, big stars, individual players.

'We are more for the players collectives that give us individual performance at the service of the collective. We have a project where everyone must make themselves available to a collective'

Ronaldo's behaviour this past week looks to be leading him to a move away from Man Utd in January, but like in the summer, clubs have already distanced themselves with a move for the Portugal star.

The win was United's best performance of the season as Erik ten Hag's side continue to get positive results without Ronaldo in the starting line-up.
