Manchester United is going to face Chelsea in their first match of Premier League this season.
Chelsea and Manchester United have produced a lot of world-class players and football legends.
Let’s see the best five who have played for both, the Blues and the Red Devils.
5. Juan Sebastian Veron
Manchester United signed Juan Sebastian Veron in 2001 for a fee of £24.3 million, making him the most expensive signing in England.
The Argentine arrived with a huge reputation, having won the UEFA Cup with Parma in 1999 and the Serie A with Lazio in the following season.
However, Veron’s time in England was not comparable to his spell in Italy, as he struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premier League.
Two years after signing him, Manchester United cut their losses and shipped him off to Chelsea for £15m. He played only 14 competitive games at Stamford Bridge, before being sent on loan to Inter after one season with the club.
Juan Sebastian Veron won the Premier League with the Red Devils in 2003.
4. Romelu Lukaku
The Belgian striker who just left Manchester United is the next name on our list. Lukaku has been signed by Chelsea at 18 years old from Anderlecht, for a fee reported to be around €12 million.
He didn’t play too many games for the club, as the Belgian was sent on loan to WBA and Everton. The Merseyside club signed him on a permanent basis in 2014.
Lukaku signed for Manchester United in July 2017 for an initial £75 million, plus £15 million in add-ons.
But he had been struggled in Man Utd and was not in Solskjaer's plan for the new season so he left for Inter just several days ago.
3. Mark Hughes
Mark Hughes was a fantastic striker, sho has also played for Chelsea and Manchester United.
He spent three seasons at Old Trafford at the start of his career, before playing for Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
The Welshman got back to England in 1988 and resigned for the Red Devils. He scored 116 goals in his second spell as a United player, winning the Premier League twice.
Hughes also won the FA Cup three times during his two spells with Sir Alex Ferguson’s club. He scored both goals for Manchester United in the Cup Winners’ Cup final victory over his former club Barcelona in 1991.
He signed for Chelsea in 1995 and spent three seasons at Stamford Bridge. Hughes won the FA Cup, League Cup, and the Cup Winners’ Cup with the Blues.

2. Nemanja Matic
The Serbian moved to Chelsea as a youngster in 2009, but played only two Premier League games before being sold to Benfica two years later.
He became a world-class midfielder in Portugal and rejoined the Blues in January 2014 for a reported fee of £21 million.
His second spell at Stamford Bridge was a huge success as Matic won the Premier League twice – in 2015 and 2017.
Nemanja played 121 league games for Chelsea and joined Manchester United in the summer of 2017.
The Serbian is an excellent reader of the game and has a decent passing range. He is one of the best players in the Premier League and is a vital part in Solskjaer midfield.
1. Juan Mata
Having joined Chelsea in 2011 from Valencia, Juan Mata went on to become an instant hit at the Stamford Bridge.
He helped the Blues secure their only UEFA Champions League title in his debut season and also won the UEFA Europa League the following campaign.
During his time as a Chelsea player, Mata scored 32 goals and assisted 58 more. His outstanding performances were rewarded with him being named the club’s Player of the Year twice in succession.
He moved to Old Trafford in January 2014. At Manchester United, he has gone on to win the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.
