Mbappe 'demands release clause be inserted in any new contract'

Kylian Mbappe is demanding a release clause that will allow him to move to Real Madrid or another of Europe's elite this summer.

The France international and Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo are at an impasse with Mbappe unhappy with the way talks are progressing according to AS.

It is expected that Mbappe will sign a new contract but the World Cup winner is demanding a release clause is inserted.

Any buy-out clause is likely to eclipse the world-record fee of £198million that PSG paid Barcelona to sign Neymar.

The Ligue 1 champions are understood to be happy with that arrangement as it will ensure Mbappe will stay at the club for the foreseeable future.

Mbappe is likely to secure himself a huge pay rise at the same time with L'Equipe reporting that PSG are willing to put him on the same wages as Neymar worth £600,000 a week.

This would come as a blow to Real Madrid who were hoping to secure another Galactico signing similar to the purchase of Eden Hazard last summer from Chelsea.

Mbappe's contract expires in 2022 and Florentino Perez's plan was to make a move when the striker had just one year left on his current deal as the asking price would be significantly lower.

If the French forward does renew his current deal, it will be for at least two or three more years and would hike up his asking price.

Madrid will likely end their pursuit of Mbappe if that's the case as he will be too expensive.

Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Mbappe but Jurgen Klopp has said in the past he would be too expensive.
