Tuesday was Cristiano Ronaldo's night and Wednesday was Lionel Messi's night.
The two players who have been battling it out on the biggest stages for well over a decade were in terrific form this week, with the Barcelona man accepting the challenge put before him by his rival.
Ronaldo netted a hat-trick against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday and Messi was just as influential in his own match 24 hours later as he scored twice and also provided two assists in Barcelona's 5-1 victory over Lyon.
With a Panenka penalty, a shot that slid under the Lyon goalkeeper, a cross for the onrushing Gerard Pique and one final assist for substitute Ousmane Dembele, Messi steered Barcelona away from any banana skins.
Both he and Ronaldo deserve to contest another European final and it would be some occasion if they meet each other in a Barcelona vs Juventus showdown in Madrid on June 1.

Barca fans don't forget Juve was 2 goals down before the 2nd leg match and that's also against a team like Athletico Madrid; no one had ever thought that Juve can come back with CR7 hattrick. but it's not the same for Barca today night. They ware not any goals behind and you can't compare Stakle with Athletico. Even every one comparing Today knows from their heart that how difficult it was for Ronaldo to make this comeback. I am not a hater or Messi. But sometimes it's very bad example for football when someone compares just to show someone bad for the sake he likes his competitor.

what you can do, I can do better. Messi was calm with the ball and played only for the victory of the team cuz that is what matters. no need struggling to score a hat trick because your arch rival did same and cost the whole team a defeat. 2 goals and 2 assist.....my hatred for Ronaldo keeps dropping and my passion for Messi keeps burning

Messi scored 2 and assisted 2 against a team like Lyon in which the aggregate score was 0-0....while Ronaldo being 34 years old, Juve 2-0 down , scores a brilliant hat trick to send them through.....there is a big difference in what Messi did and what Ronaldo did. Ronaldo turned the whole tie around all by himself.Also Ronaldo scores a hat trick against Atlético Madrid who r considered as a good team with players like Griezmann, Godin etc. While Messi scored 2 and assisted 2 against a team like Lyon who have no experience in playing in Champions League.

We don't just have to compare because we have to. The two situations are not same. Juve is coming from a two zero defeat and it had to take the great talents and personal action from CR7 to make the difference. Ronaldo was simply phenomenal.
