Lionel Messi has been nominated for the Puskas Award a record SEVEN times after entering the 2019 nominee list again.

Messi's sublime lob scoring against Real Betis is one of the ten nominees for the 2019 Puskas Award.

And it's the seventh time he entered the nominee list - something he managed to achieve six times in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018.

Despite being nominated seven times, he is still yet to win the award until now with ranking second in 2015 his personal best - a decision widely argued by fans.

Messi dribbled past four defenders before scoring a stunner in the 2015 Copa del Rey final, but that goal didn't give him the award eventually.

Neymar and Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been each nominated five and four times behind Messi, and Ronaldo has been only nominated twice.

However, all three of them have won the Puskas Award once.

Messi's previous Puskas award nominees:

1. Messi vs Valencia (2010)

2. Messi vs Arsenal (2011)

3. Messi vs Brazil (2012)

4. Messi vs Athletic Bilbao (2015)

5. Messi vs United States of America (2016)

6. Messi vs Nigeria (2018)
