Lionel Messi has been shown two red cards in his career, one on his Argentina debut and one during his most recent appearance for his country, his 136th.
The forward was dismissed in the Albiceleste's Copa America third-place play-off against Chile after an incident with Gary Medel, who was also dismissed.
That was the player's first red card since August 18, 2005, when he was sent off 40 seconds into his debut when Argentina were playing Hungary.
With Barcelona, the No.10 hasn't been dismissed in any of his 687 matches.

most decent player i have ever seen and have never seen him overreacting or exaggerating when hurt as Nermar, Hazard, Kane, and the leader Cr7 do when hurt. He is special player i have always enjoyed watching, someone with a heart & humility. Remember Cr7 vs Rooney in the 2006 WC when he overreacted to ensure Rooney was sent off what a shame??

Aims of VAR: 1: To see if a goal deserved to be awarded 2: To see if a penalty should be awarded 3: To see if a player deserved a straight red 4: To sanction the right player . . . As we can see in the past match...VAR is just for fun
