GARY LINEKER accidentally insulted Frank Lampard live on TV before vowing to apologise to the Chelsea legend.
The pair were part of BBC’s live broadcast for Germany’s 2-0 win over Hungary on Wednesday afternoon.
Lineker and Lampard were joined in the studio by Brentford boss Thomas Frank and Alex Scott.
And the banter naturally flowed as the quartet delivered sharp insights into the thrilling Euros group stage fixture.
However, Lineker produced a faux pas at one point as he accidentally insulted Lampard.
The host pointed out there was a fan screen in the background of the BBC’s outdoor studio, which blocked fans from being able to look in.
Lampard joked if the screen was removed, they’d only be able to see the back of his head anyway.
And that’s when Lineker put his foot in it with an untimely joke about balding.
Lineker said: “The Brandenburg Gate there, we should take that screen down and see all the punters.
“But if they took the screen down they wouldn’t be able to watch the game.”
Lampard chimed in: “They’d see my head! They wouldn’t turn up for that!”
Lineker joked: “No you’re right, nobody wants to see the back of your head these days! That’s for sure.”

Lampard appeared to fail to see the funny side as his smile quickly faded.
Fans certainly found it hilarious though, with one saying: "Lampard realising it was a balding joke has sent me."
Another declared: "This is literally the funniest thing I’ve ever seen, actual tears in my eyes."
One added: "Gary Lineker has just absolutely bodied Frank Lampard on live TV. Lampard's face is killing me. The fume."
Lineker went on to talk about the incident on the latest episode of The Rest Is Football Podcast.
And the host admitted an apology to Lampard was forthcoming.
Lineker said: “Obviously Frank’s slightly thinning, I’m slightly thinning, and I actually meant it about everyone.
“But when it came out, it came out a bit wrong. And you know Frank does that thing where he smiles, and then he suddenly doesn’t smile?
“Frank’s great fun, he won’t mind. I must admit, when I got back to the hotel I saw it on social media and thought, ‘Oh you f*****g idiot.’
“I felt really bad, I’ll have to apologise. I will apologise because it wasn’t deliberate but I get how funny it was. Those things happen on live TV.”

Lineker should know better, he's being in this punditry business for long, but it's all good if he do apologize on live TV also...
