NBA star and Chelsea fan Josh Hart mocks Tottenham after Gareth Bale's comments

Rival football fans of Tottenham have mocked the club after Gareth Bale's comments on Tuesday and now a NBA player has waded in too.

After an indifferent campaign on loan from Real Madrid, Bale has recently returned to form at Spurs - scoring four in his last four Premier League appearances for the club.

There had been optimism that the 31-year-old would look to make his loan move a permanent one this summer but Bale emphatically squashed that by declaring his intent to return to Real Madrid and that this season was about being match fit for Wales at the delayed Euro 2020 campaign.

And Bale's public declaration has amused many opposition supporters - including Chelsea fan and NBA guard Josh Hart.

Hart, who plays for the New Orleans Pelicans, took to Twitter on Tuesday to laugh at Tottenham's situation.

'Bale really used Tottenham for training,' he wrote alongside three crying-laughter emojis.

Hart then went further comparing Bale's situation to it's NBA equivalent. The Pelicans guard said Bale used 'Tottenham like it was the G-League'. The G League is the step below the NBA and is used to develop players who are trying to make it within basketball's elite league.

However, the 26-year-old was forced to defend that tweet though after he was told to 'respect' the G League by one user.

And in doing so, Hart clarified his comments before throwing more shade at Tottenham.

No disrespect at all,' he said. 'I played in the G League for some games. You go there, get reps and work in. That's what Bale just did with Tottenham.'

Hart is a big Chelsea supporter and has spoken about his passion for the club before.

'I liked Chelsea in high school, but a little more in college I got into it,' Hart said on the Chelsea Mike'd Up podcast last February.

'I used to watch England a lot - John Terry, Frank Lampard, they played for Chelsea so I went with Chelsea.'

At the start of last term, he managed to fulfil a wish as he watched Chelsea in action at Stamford Bridge - attending their season-opening 2-2 draw with Leicester City. Before the match he met the likes of Christian Pulisic, Antonio Rudiger, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Blues legend John Terry. He was also treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the team dressing room and even got to walk out of the tunnel.

'My first trip [to Stamford Bridge] was amazing,' he continued. 'The environment was amazing, the passion was something I'd never seen before.'
