OFFICIAL: 19-year-old midfielder Valentin Carboni joins Marseille from Inter

Olympique de Marseille are pleased to announce the signing of Valentin Carboni from Inter Milan. The 19-year-old midfielder has joined the club on a loan with an option to buy after successfully passing his medical.

Club's official statement:

Born on March 5, 2005 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, it was in Italy with Catania FC and then Inter Milan that Valentín Carboni refined his training. A left-footed attacking midfielder with great technical ease, the Italian-Argentine managed to lead the Nerazzurri Primavera to victory  in  the U19 championship and to obtain playing time with the first team from 2022. At 17 years old, the young  trequartista  impresses with his physical solidity, his versatility and his powerful ball strike.

Author of several notable appearances in Serie A as well as in the Champions League, Valentín Carboni is loaned to AC Monza in the summer of 2023 in order to toughen up and gain experience. During the previous 2023-2024 season, the Argentinian nugget has had a complete and promising season with 32 matches played for 2 goals scored and 4 assists delivered.

His performances did not go unnoticed in his homeland either: Valentín Carboni was called up to the reigning World Champions Argentina by Lionel Scaloni, earned his first cap in March 2024 and won the Copa América on July 15 under the colors of the Albiceleste.
