OFFICIAL: 39-year-old Handanovic announces his retirement after becoming a free agent

Samir Handanovic officially announces his retirement: 'I will stop playing. Now the second half of life begins and for now I can say that both I and Inter would like to continue in a new role and the conditions are in place for that to happen'. 

After June 30, when his contract expired, the Slovenian goalkeeper did not find a new team and decided to take other directions.

According to the newspaper Il Giornale "Being without a contract after eleven seasons at Inter, he hoped to continue playing. However, the latest proposals received did not satisfy him. Samir will continue living in Milan and will collaborate in the technical area at Inter."

Without a doubt he earned a place in the Olympus of Nero-Azurri legends. Surviving the worst period of the last era, he left the best of his career, always believing in a better tomorrow, and his dream began to materialize... lifting the Scudetto as captain.

Although it is true that he strongly criticizes his last months in the Inter goal, it does not mean that he is not recognized as the professional and upright person that he is.
