Austrian manager Adi Hütter has been officially appointed as AS Monaco head coach, the club has announced. The former Eintracht Frankfurt boss has put pen to paper over a two-year deal with Les Monégasques. Hütter has replaced Philippe Clement in the Stade Louis-II dugout after the Belgian failed to qualify the Principality side for European competition next season after finishing sixth in the Ligue 1 standings.

After previous stints in Austria, Switzerland and Germany, Hütter will be tasked to get Monaco on the right track again. The Austrian was a free agent after being removed by Borussia Mönchengladbach last year after only one season in charge. Hütter will lead his first training session on Wednesday.

“These different experiences, added to his leadership and a profile marked by a bold forward-thinking style, correspond in all respects with what we expect in order to reach a new milestone with the first team“, said new AS Monaco Sporting director Thiago Scurro. Hütter’s first competitive game in the Monaco dugout will be away at Clermont for Ligue 1’s opening day on August 12th.
