Claudio Pizarro is set for his 21st season of Bundesliga football after agreeing a one-year deal with Werder Bremen.
The Peruvian, who turns 40 in October, spent last season with Cologne, scoring once in 16 games as the Billy Goats were relegated. The strike, which came in the 3-2 reverse against VfB Stuttgart on Matchday 25, meant Pizarro has score in each of the last 20 Bundesliga campaigns.
A six-time Bundesliga champion over two spells at Bayern Munich, Pizarro joins Bremen for the fifth time, having also put pen to paper with Die Grün-Weißen in 1999, 2008 (on loan from Chelsea), 2009 and 2015.
Pizarro has been in Mallorca this summer working on his fitness and could get his first taste of action against Dutch outfit Groningen next Sunday.

Whoever criticized the transfer has never loved football and believes when piza gets the balls served then network when it arrives. This ability has hardly anyone more than him throughout the bundesliga. That's where age doesn't matter either 😊

A man you should just keep in the club! That he will give the stand by professional in this season - nice if he's still fit enough. He does not take away his season, but can be slowly integrated into the coach. And - very important: He's 100 % a win for team chemistry, where it wasn't always all great. Perfect!
