Germany will host the 2024 European Championships after being selected ahead of Turkey by UEFA's executive committee.
Germany and Turkey had been the candidates to stage the 24-team tournament.
After a two-horse race for Euro 2024, the German Football Association's (DFB) successful bid means they will host a major international tournament for the first time since the 2006 World Cup.
The four-time world champions have won the Euros three times - 1972, 1980 and 1996 - and last staged the continental competition as West Germany in 1988.
Last week, Germany's bid for Euro 2024 received a more favourable evaluation report than its Turkish rival.
Published on UEFA's website, the 40-page report assessed each bid in 12 key areas, including the quality of stadiums, the political landscape and transport infrastructure.
Germany boss Joachim Low was in attendance at the announcement, as was World Cup-winning captain Phillip Lahm, who is the ambassador for the bid.
Former FIFA chief Sepp Blatter led the congratulations, posting: "Euro 2024 in Germany: Great that UEFA is returning to its original format - and not allocate the event (as in 2020) across the continent.
"Germany as host guarantees a tournament on the highest infrastructural and logistical level."

why not give Turkey the chance to host , Germany hosted world cup and Europe before , we need to see other countries do the hosting ,Turkey is a big touristic country and very near to middle east where many fans would love to go there and watch their preferred teams play . but hey this is the new world were politics and discrimination is stronger then sports .
