Stade de Reims have confirmed that Josh Wilson-Esbrand’s (21) loan move has been cut short. The England youth international has been loaned back out by parent club Manchester City, this time to Cardiff City.
Wilson-Esbrand joined Will Still’s side on a season-long loan deal at the start of the season. He went on to make 13 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and registering one assist in a Reims side that are challenging for the European places this season.
His recall comes despite starting Les Stadistes’ last two games, including in a 0-0 draw against FC Nantes on Sunday. Having returned to Manchester City, Wilson-Esbrand was immediately sent back out on loan, this time to EFL Championship side Cardiff City. The England youth international joins the Bluebirds on loan until the end of the season.
Cardiff currently sit 14th in the Championship. Wilson-Esbrand, who can play at full-back or in midfield, will be hoping to help Cardiff rise up the table in the second half of the season.
