Forgotten Manchester United man Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has left the club to join Tranmere Rovers on loan.
Expectations were high of Borthwick-Jackson when he made his United debut at the age of just 18, coming on as a late substitute in a 2-0 win over West Brom.
Due to a number injuries to more senior players the defender was regularly called upon during the 2015-16 season.
He became a regular under former manager Louis van Gaal and went on to win the club's U21 Player of the Year.
Successive underwhelming loan spells at Wolves and Leeds stunted his career and he never established himself in the first team again.
Having spent last season on loan at League One side Scunthorpe United he has returned to the league with Tranmere, where the 22-year-old will remain for the rest of the 2019/20 season.
“I'm delighted and I can't wait to get started," Borthwick-Jackson told Tranmere.
“I think it's a case of me getting back to my best and showcasing what I can do to help Tranmere finish as high up the league table as possible.
“The manager was keen, and he wanted me. I'm looking forward to working with him and that's half the battle to have a manager like that. He said he knows my quality and he wants me to get back enjoying my football.”
Borthwick-Jackson's United contract will expire next summer.
