Pantic lambasts Ronaldo: In my day, players didn't love the mirror so much

Former Atletico Madrid midfielder Milinko Pantic has looked back on his career with Los Colchoneros and recalled the confusion his arrival caused in the press.

The Serbian signed for Atleti in 1995 and went on to win a LaLiga and Copa del Rey double in his first season, but he arrived a relative unknown.

"Atletico Madrid signed me, I arrived here and the press, who couldn't even spell my surname, said I was [then-Atletico coach] Radomir Antic's cousin," Pantic told David Broncano on La Resistencia.

"That carried on until my first match against Tavalera de la Reina, because from then on everyone changed their opinion about me.

"They realised that this wasn't a cousin of Radomir Antic, this was Milinko Pantic."

Pantic was a guest on La Resistencia to talk about the forthcoming Movistar documentary, titled 'El Atleti del Doblete', about that 1995/96 double-winning Atleti side.

The Serbian, who is now a LaLiga ambassador, reflected on the success of that side and said footballers have changed a lot in the last 25 years.

"I took off my shirt [after scoring in the 1996 Copa del Rey final] and I don't know why, because I don't have abs like Cristiano Ronaldo," said Pantic.

"In my day, players didn't love the mirror so much.

"Now players love the mirror a lot."
