Pirlo makes Arsenal star 'transfer priority' after taking over at Juventus

Arsenal star Hector Bellerin is reportedly Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo's first-choice right-back target in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are believed to be ready to sell Bellerin as boss Mikel Arteta overhauls his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

And new Juve boss Pirlo needs a new right-back, with former Chelsea midfielder Juan Cuadrado having filled in last term.

The Italy legend has made former Spain international Bellerin his No1 priority for the position, with talks having already begun between Arsenal and the Turin side, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Bellerin is under contract at the Emirates until 2023, but the 25-year-old struggled for game time last season because of a hamstring problem.

Although he returned to action before the end of the season, he is not yet back to his best after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament during the 2018/19 campaign.

Gunners boss Arteta has handed Cedric Soares a permanent deal following the right-back's loan move from Southampton last season.

And Arsenal are apparently prepared to part company with both Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who can also play at right-back after converting from midfield.

Arteta also has William Saliba and Pablo Mari as central defensive options, while the signing of Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes is believed to be imminent.

Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas believes his former side should consider selling Bellerin for the right price.

"I would contemplate and look at, people have been mentioning, somebody like Bellerin if the right money came," Nicholas said on Sky Sports.

"Now Bellerin has been a star but since his bad injury he’s never really recovered fully.

"If we can get him fit again and get him going again, then I’m all for Bellerin staying here."
