Match Report

JOAO FELIX missed the crucial penalty as Portugal lost to France in the Euro 2024 quarter-final.

They will face Spain in the semi-final after winning at the Volksparkstadion.

Spain reached the final four earlier in the day, having edged past Germany 2-1 following extra-time.

The first half of the match left little to admire as neither side was able to take control.

Portugal started to get the better of the match in the second half but was denied multiple times by goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Randal Kolo Muani had the chance to put France ahead in the 66th minute but a brilliant block from Ruban Dias.

France's poor form in front of goal continued as Eduardo Camavinga missed from five yards moments later.

Neither side were able to find a winner inside 90 minutes and Michale Oliver called time and sent the match to extra-time.

It was much the same story for the next 30 minutes and the match was summed up as Nuno Mendes fluffed a chance in the 120th minute to set up a penalty shootout.

Joao Felix missed the crucial spot-kick as France advanced to the semi-final.
