Problems return for injured James Rodriguez

James Rodriguez returned to Real Madrid on Monday to undergo his medical tests, which confirmed the extent of the injury he suffered during training with Colombia over the international break ahead of their game with Peru.

Los Blancos, who haven't released Gareth Bale's medical information at the request of the Welshman, confirmed that James has 'suffered an internal ligament sprain in his left knee'.

With him thought to be out for three to four weeks, the objective for both player and club is to have him back and in perfect condition before the Clasico at the Camp Nou on December 18.

James will miss five or six games between then, against Real Sociedad, Paris Saint-Germain, Alaves, Espanyol, Club Brugge and Valencia.

The latest injury comes as another blow to James' aspirations of playing under Zinedine Zidane, having already been confined to the bench by the Frenchman.

Injuries have always been an enemy of James', both at Madrid and at Bayern Munich.

He's already on his third injury of the 2019/20 season, and last season he hurt his same left knee which saw him out for 40 days and eight games.

Since 2011/12 he's been injured 21 times.
